SUMMARY:Peace Watercolour Society
DESCRIPTION:Painting by Judy Brown \n  \nPeace Watercolour Society \nExhibition and Sale\n  \nThe Peace Watercolour Society was formed more than 45 years ago by a group of Peace Country artists and the first group exhibit was opened in the Dawson Creek Art Gallery in the spring of 1976. \n  \nThe group’s original goal was to maintain and promote the tradition of transparent watercolour in the Peace Region and mixed media was discouraged.  This is still true of the current members although recently the group has agreed to the sparing use of inks\, watercolour pencils etc. to enhance the pure medium. All paintings are original and the Society does not accept copies. \n  \nCurrent members of the Peace Watercolour Society include Marjorie Henn from Beaverlodge\, Judith A Brown from Spirit River\, Carolyn Kosabeck from Spirit River\, Angela Fehr from Dawson Creek\, Mimi Zhang Mackie from Goodfare and Julius Miraflor from Grande Prairie. The Society with participants from both sides of the Alberta – British Columbia boundary are held together by a common goal to express impressions of our environment in watercolour paintings.   The Peace Country\, with its diverse population and wonderful landscape\, offers an incredible variety of subject matter for these artists: each captures this beauty in his or her own style. \n

DESCRIPTION:“Inspiration comes from nature & rural life\,\nalways flowing\, shifting & re-surfacing\,\nwoven with threads of faith & humour.”\nVicki Hotte\nVicki Hotte Painting in her Studio\nBiography\nI’m a visual artist working out of Beaverlodge\, Alberta\, an area with\nboth beautiful agricultural landscapes and vast wilderness. I use acrylic\npaint\, various drawing media\, new & found materials to create 2 & 3D\nimages.\nI received a Fine Arts Diploma from Grande Prairie Regional College\,\nand a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree (with Honours)\, from the University of\nVictoria\, in 1990.\nI have lived on a cattle farm most of my life\, so naturally\, that is a\nstrong influence on my artwork.\nHeritage Tree\nDown in the Valley\n5 Cows Resting
